Chinese porcelain transitional wucai baluster jar and cover painted in coloured enamels, iron-red and underglaze blue with two dragons in pursuit of flaming pearls alternating with phoenixes, all amongst clouds and flames, the cover matching
38cm high
Circa 1640
(The jar in perfect condition, the knop with some glaze loss; possible minor colour infill)
* From the property of a Dutch lady of title resident in Indonesia and acquired before 1975. The somewhat matt condition of the enamels suggests burial.
